STORIES are everywhere
I was lucky enough to be able to spend four days exploring the wild and scenic section of the Rogue River last week, bouncing over the exciting rapids and drifting through the quiet flows, avoiding rocks and shallows. The river became my consciousness, my mood. The river slowly revealed herself in her swirls, her deep steady current, her power. Floating on that power, sleeping under the stars and the full moon, dreaming the dreams of possibilities, I found the clarity in a relationship I was seeking unknowingly.
Dreams, conscious or not, can be our wild and foaming river. We all have a river of dreams flowing inside. When we pay attention to our dreams we can learn what it is that holds us hostage, what it is that nourishes us, what it is we want to do. Dreams will let us see what we have wanted to know.
Being in nature, immersed in natural activity of maneuvering, moving, watching, the connection with the body is made. The connection with body leads to the connection with mind. It is simple, a law of nature, inescapable. Body and mind are connected like the water and rock in the river. Displaced water pushes against rocks and rocks push back against water. The resulting current moves forward.
The events of the day push against the river of your dreams. The dreams push back against your life. Life current moving forward. If you pay attention to your day, pay attention to your dreams, you will know something. Your life will become more integrated.
The Chinook salmon were swimming upstream, a marathon of super athletic proportion. One pointed to the deepest goal of their life, producing off-spring. The Chinook jumped In quiet stretches, pure joy of sun and water. The Chinook jumped the rapids in dire need to get up to the next quiet stretch. Some don’t make it and die.
If your life feels like a swim upstream, find a quiet eddy, feel the sun, jump for joy, have a dream. Do you have to keep going the way you are now?
