STORIES are everywhere
How do you capture your life in six words? For someone to pay attention nowadays, you have to be able to say what you have to say, in six words or less. We have been trained to divert, go to something else, after the six words. That means I have already lost you beyond this point. What is it that makes you keep reading this blog? What happens when you bring your life down to the essence? Let’s see.
When I think about my life, “life worth living”, comes to mind. It doesn’t tell you much. It’s only three words, lets add some more, something to precede these three words, which are definitely true, my life is worth living. What makes my life worth living? Newness is the word that comes to me. Maybe to honor the time of year “renewal”, but that sounds like going back to something old, known, a re-dress of the situation. “Newness” has a crispness, a sparkle that catches my attention. That is my grandson’s life right now, eight months old as he is. His life is full of sparkle, lights, colors, smiling faces, gleaming christmas balls, shiny spoons. Oh and don’t forget, warm milk whenever you make a peep. Can you imagine not knowing what is next, just experiencing, color, light, sound, sparkle, and a full belly, a steady diet of this? Wouldn’t your life be worth living if that was so?
Well you can, all you have to do is turn off your planning mind. The one that thinks ahead, worries, desires. Because the holidays are here, and even if you don’t do anything to celebrate, there is a world full of dark and light contrast, sparkle, sound, sensation to give you a sense of newness, moment to moment. Just try.
Newness makes my life worth living. So there you have it, my life in six words in a three hundred thirty word blog. And I had your attention all this way.
